What is Neuritis?

The root word "neur" refers to a nerve and the prefix "itis" means inflammation, so the word "neuritis" simply means inflammation of a nerve.

Neuritis commonly accompanies other conditions such as tendinitis, bursitis and arthritis. Neuritis is also usually accompanied by neuralgia or nerve pain.
